Where to Stay in Pattaya for a Week

Seven nights is long enough to notice the small things: the walk to breakfast, the pool shade, the noise at midnight and whether the room has space for two people's luggage.

A two-night stay is mostly about location. A week is about routine. You will sleep in the room more than once, unpack properly, do laundry and spend at least one day doing very little. The hotel needs to work on an ordinary Tuesday, not just on arrival.

That changes what to look for. Space, a pool, breakfast and a location you can live with matter more than a dramatic lobby. It also makes the area decision worth taking seriously, because a base that is convenient for a short city break can feel tiring over a week.

The short version

  • For a week, choose a base you are happy to come back to in the afternoon, not just one near the nightlife.
  • Jomtien and Wong Amat suit beach-led weeks; Central Pattaya suits a city-and-nightlife week.
  • A split stay can work, but each move costs half a day.
  • Check laundry, storage, breakfast and pool shade, not just the room rate.
  • Build in one unscheduled day; a week of early starts is not a holiday.

Start with the shape of the week

Before comparing hotels, sketch out how you want the week to feel. If most days involve the beach and an early dinner, a quieter area will serve you better. If you want to be out every evening and take day trips from the centre, a central hotel saves time and transport.

A useful rule: choose the area for your ordinary days, not for the two big excursions. You will spend more time near the hotel than you think, and the pool you use on a slow afternoon matters as much as the beach you visit once.

Matching a week to a base

If your week is mostly...Look atWhy
Beach days and family timeJomtienMore space on the sand, calmer evenings, family rooms

City life and nightlifeCentral PattayaWalkable, restaurants and bars on the doorstep
A mix of beach and cityCentral Pattaya or a split stayEasy access to both, with some noise trade-off
Slow days and sunsetsPratamnakHillside quiet, views, but you need transport

These are starting points. The exact hotel location matters more than the area label.

Jomtien: the easiest week

If the point of the week is to slow down, Jomtien is the simplest choice. You can walk to the beach, eat along the beach road and spend afternoons by the pool without planning a trip into the city. The area has enough restaurants and shops for a week, and the evenings are quiet enough to sleep.

The one thing to plan is transport. You will take a songthaew or a ride-hailing car for central Pattaya, and the return at night is worth arranging before you go out. If you are happy with that, Jomtien rewards you with space.

Central Pattaya: the city week

A week in Central Pattaya suits travellers who want to be out and about: restaurants, markets, bars and the beach within walking distance. You will not need a car, and there is always something open nearby.

The risk is fatigue. Noise, traffic and the heat can make a central base feel relentless by day five. Choose a hotel with a pool and a quiet room, and plan a couple of days away from the centre. A garden or a rooftop pool makes a real difference to a week.

Wong Amat, Naklua and Pratamnak: the quiet week

The northern bay and the hill are for travellers who want distance from the city. Wong Amat has larger resorts close to the water; Naklua has a local neighbourhood feel and seafood restaurants; Pratamnak has views and small coves. All three require transport for the centre.

For a week, that can be a feature rather than a problem. You settle into one place, eat locally and make a few trips rather than moving constantly. The trade-off is that a quick lunch in the city becomes a journey, so plan your days around the area rather than against it.

Should you split the week between two areas?

A split stay can give you the best of both: three or four nights in Central Pattaya, then three or four in Jomtien. It works best when the two hotels are a short ride apart and you are not changing on your last day.

The cost is time. Packing, checking out, moving and waiting for a room can take a morning, and some hotels will not hold a room before the standard check-in time. If you only have a week, one well-chosen base is usually less hassle than two.

A week that does not exhaust you

Leave one day completely free. A week in Pattaya can easily fill up with day trips, beach days and evenings out, and the last thing you want is to need a holiday after your holiday. A slow morning, a late lunch and an afternoon by the pool is a legitimate way to spend a day here.
